You Can't Make This Sh*t Up!
Tales From the Field and other Social Worker's Experiences
HI! I'M RENÉE
Hello and Welcome!
I started this adventure due to the COVID-19. I had been laid off from my job and I wanted the next chapter in my life and career to new, exciting and matter. As I talked to my friend and collogues in Social Work, we shared stories of our experiences with the agency we work with, colleagues and the populations we serve. Some of the experiences were funny, shocking, mind blowing, and some made us angry. We also discussed what is happening in the field of social work over all and due to COVID-19.

As I stated, I am a Social Worker. I started my education at the College of New Rochelle, majoring in Sociology and Social Work with a minor in Religion in 1995. I obtained my master’s in social work from Fordham University School of Social Work in 2008. I have various trainings in Coaching, Domestic Violence, working with mentally disabled individuals and I recently completed clinical training at Ackerman Institute Gender Identity Project. I have worked as a case planner, supervisor and director in the child welfare arena. I have also worked with individuals affected and infected with HIV/AIDS in supportive housing and the homeless. All of these experiences have allowed me to be a well-rounded Social Worker and I have been lucky enough to share my experiences with Staff and Students in the Social Work arena.

I started this podcast to discuss Social Work trends, changes in the field, support for one another and to share our stories from the field. I hope that you find this podcast, funny, informative and supportive.
